REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Bank Indonesia (BI) has launched the Indonesian Digital Innovation Centre (PIDI) as an effort to develop the digital ecosystem in Indonesia. PIDI is designed to be a hub for innovation and the creation of national digital talent.

Governor of BI, Perry Warjiyo, stated that digital innovation is a strategic solution to address challenges and unlock new economic growth opportunities. The development of the digitally-delivered services economy (DDSE) in Indonesia shows a significant upward trend and has the potential to be a driver of national economic growth.

As a form of dedication and the creation of sustainable added value for the industry, BI consistently builds strategic initiatives focused on accelerating the national digital innovation ecosystem. This is a manifestation of the mandate of the Indonesian Payment System Blueprint (BSPI) 2030.

“Bank Indonesia is initiating the establishment of the Indonesian Digital Innovation Centre/PIDI as a national hub that functions to orchestrate the digital innovation process,” said Perry at the PIDI Launch event at the BI Head Office, Jakarta, Monday (23/2/2026).

PIDI is positioned as a policy enabler that bridges public policy with industry needs and technology development, through an integrated approach from upstream to downstream. Through PIDI, BI ensures that innovative ideas are supported by technical capabilities, business understanding, and adequate guidance and mentoring.

PIDI is based on three strategic pillars, namely mapping needs and market intelligence, exploring and testing innovation, and developing digital talent. These three pillars are aimed at producing key outputs in the form of strategic intelligent market analytics (Sigma), the Digital Talenta Berdaya dan Berkarya (Digdaya) program, and innovation competence through Hackathons. In the 2026 implementation, PIDI focuses on the Digdaya x Hackathon, which is expected to be a model in building a long-term innovation ecosystem foundation by developing superior talent.

“Let’s create digital talent for the future!” he said to the audience, who were mostly young people and prospective participants in the Digdaya x Hackathon 2026 event.
