Bank Indonesia Issues Full Statement on Perry Warjiyo's Resignation

Bank Indonesia (BI) has confirmed the voluntary resignation of Perry Warjiyo from his position as Governor, effective 25 July 2026. The resignation was submitted to President Prabowo Subianto, who expressed his gratitude and appreciation for Warjiyo’s seven years of service leading the central bank. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi conveyed the President’s thanks during a press conference at the BI building on Monday (27/7/2026).

Destry Damayanti, who has assumed the role of interim Governor, stated that the resignation was made voluntarily for personal reasons. In accordance with Article 48 paragraph (1) letter (a) of Law No. 23 of 1999 concerning Bank Indonesia, as last amended by Law No. 4 of 2026 on the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector, the Board of Governors appointed Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti as acting Governor during a meeting on 26 July 2026.

Damayanti affirmed that Bank Indonesia remains committed to ensuring the continuity of its duties and authority to achieve rupiah stability, maintain payment system stability, and safeguard financial system stability. She stressed that these efforts are aimed at supporting sustainable economic growth, creating a conducive economic environment for the real sector, and generating employment in line with the central bank’s mandate. The central bank will continue to prioritise good institutional governance and maintain synergy and coordination with the government in carrying out their respective duties.
