Bank Indonesia Holds Benchmark Rate at 5.75% in July 2026
Bank Indonesia (BI) decided to hold its benchmark interest rate (BI-Rate) at 5.75% during its Board of Governors meeting on 21-22 July 2026. The decision, announced on Wednesday, also kept the Deposit Facility rate at 4.75% and the Lending Facility rate at 6.50%.
Governor Perry Warjiyo stated that the central bank is expanding incentive policies to encourage foreign portfolio inflows and strengthen rupiah exchange rate stability. "BI is expanding incentive policies and a number of other policies to increase foreign portfolio inflows and strengthen rupiah exchange rate stability, accelerate the deepening of money and foreign exchange markets, and increase liquidity," he said during the monthly press conference.
The decision to hold the rate steady defied the consensus forecast from a CNBC Indonesia poll of economists, where eight out of fourteen respondents had projected a 25 basis point hike to 6.00%.
