Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti has been appointed as the interim Governor of Bank Indonesia. The appointment follows a Board of Governors meeting held on 26 July 2026, in accordance with the provisions of Law Number 23 of 1999 concerning Bank Indonesia, as amended by Law Number 4 of 2026 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector.
Damayanti stated that Warjiyo voluntarily stepped down for personal reasons, though she did not elaborate further on the specifics of his resignation letter to President Prabowo Subianto.
