Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo Resigns

The government has announced the resignation of Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo. The announcement was made by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi at the Bank Indonesia building on Monday, 27 July 2026.

Prasetyo stated that President Prabowo Subianto had accepted Perry Warjiyo’s letter of resignation. The government will now process an honourable discharge, to be followed up immediately in accordance with the mechanisms stipulated in the Bank Indonesia Law.

‘As of yesterday, we officially received the letter of resignation from the Governor of Bank Indonesia addressed to the president,’ Prasetyo said.

Prasetyo explained that President Prabowo accepted Perry Warjiyo’s resignation with thanks and appreciation for his dedication of nearly seven years leading Bank Indonesia. Administratively, the government will process the issuance of a presidential decree regarding Perry Warjiyo’s honourable discharge as Governor of Bank Indonesia.

In accordance with the provisions of the Bank Indonesia Law, he said, the position of Governor of Bank Indonesia will be temporarily assumed by Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti. As acting governor, Damayanti will carry out all duties and authorities of the governor until the mechanism for filling the definitive position is carried out in accordance with laws and regulations.
