Bank Indonesia Forecasts 2026 Economic Growth Between 4.9-5.7 Per Cent
Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Destry Damayanti has revealed the current conditions and economic growth forecasts for Indonesia in 2026. She stated that Indonesia’s economic growth remains well-maintained and needs to be continuously driven by optimising various sources of economic growth.
“Bank Indonesia estimates Indonesia’s economic growth in 2026 will be within the range of 4.9 to 5.7 per cent,” said Destry during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday (23/09/2026).
The former Senior Economic Adviser to the British Ambassador noted that recent developments show household consumption remains stable, supported by significant various government fiscal stimuli. Destry added that consumer income confidence and expectations are beginning to strengthen.
“Investment also continues to grow well, primarily supported by government investment, amidst the role of private investment which still needs to be further increased,” she said.
However, various efforts must be strengthened to optimise the impact of rising export commodity prices. She mentioned that moving forward, economic growth is expected to remain good, supported by the implementation of various government stimulus programmes, strong confidence among economic actors, and the optimisation of various growth drivers.
Destry stated that Bank Indonesia continues to strengthen the mix of monetary, macroprudential, and payment system policies, working in close synergy with government policies to maintain stability in order to encourage strong and resilient economic growth. She added that the performance of the balance of payments needs to be further strengthened to support external resilience during periods of increasing global uncertainty.
“The trade balance for the July 2026 period recorded a surplus of 0.12 billion US dollars, after recording a deficit of 0.45 billion US dollars in the previous month,” she noted.
