Bank Indonesia Destroys 466,000 Sheets of Counterfeit Currency

Bank Indonesia, together with the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri), has destroyed 466,535 sheets of counterfeit Indonesian rupiah notes of various denominations. These notes were the result of handling cases from 2017 to November 2025. The destruction took place symbolically at the Bank Indonesia Central Office Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, 13 May 2026, with Deputy Governor Ricky P. Gozali, Acting Head of Bareskrim Polri Inspector General Nunung Syaifuddin, and other law enforcement officials in attendance.
