Bank Indonesia Announces Governor Perry Warjiyo's Voluntary Resignation

Deputy Senior Governor of Bank Indonesia Destry Damayanti stated that the resignation of Perry Warjiyo from the position of Governor of Bank Indonesia was done voluntarily due to personal reasons. She said the resignation letter was submitted on 25 July 2026. “In connection with the voluntary resignation of Mr. Perry Warjiyo from the position of Governor of BI due to personal reasons on 25 July 2026,” Destry said during a press conference at the Bank Indonesia Office in Central Jakarta, Monday, 27 July 2026. Destry explained that based on Article 48 paragraph (1) letter a of Law Number 23 of 1999 concerning Bank Indonesia, as last amended by Law Number 4 of 2026 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector, the Board of Governors in a meeting on 26 July 2026 appointed her as the acting Governor of Bank Indonesia. This appointment refers to Article 50 paragraph (2) of the Bank Indonesia Law. She stressed that Bank Indonesia will continue to carry out its duties and authority to maintain the stability of the rupiah, maintain the stability of the payment system, and help maintain financial system stability to support sustainable economic growth. Destry also stated that the central bank will continue to prioritise good institutional governance and professionalism in carrying out its mandate. According to her, the central bank will continue to synergise and coordinate with the government in accordance with their respective duties and authorities.
