Bank Indonesia (BI) has organised the Kick-Off for the 2026 Integrated Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Entrepreneurship Transformation Programme.

he event was attended by the Governor of Bank Indonesia, Perry Warjiyo, and the Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar.

In his opening remarks, Perry stated that the Integrated MSME programme represents a concrete commitment from Bank Indonesia, the government, and BI’s strategic partners to advance the people’s economy through MSMEs. He noted that the programme focuses on integrated entrepreneurship training and the establishment of advanced MSMEs to facilitate job creation and economic growth.

This initiative serves as a response to the high levels of global uncertainty, necessitating greater economic self-reliance for Indonesia. “We are facing a world of continuous volatility and increasing uncertainty. Therefore, we must become increasingly independent. Regardless of what happens globally, we have to move on,” Perry added.

Perry further highlighted the immense potential of MSMEs, noting that Indonesia possesses over 65 million MSME players, most of which are small-scale operations that already contribute significantly to employment. Currently, Bank Indonesia’s MSME partners include approximately 3,000 enterprises spread across 46 BI representative offices, including around 1,500 MSMEs originating from Islamic boarding schools (pesantren).

“The programmes we have implemented with the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of MSMEs, and the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment will continue to be executed. However, our focus must be on how to broaden their impact. That is the purpose of the Kick-Off we are conducting today,” he explained.
