Bank Indonesia and Bank Negara Malaysia Sign MoU to Strengthen Central Bank Policies

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and Bank Indonesia (BI) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen the bilateral cooperation framework between the two central banks on Monday (11/5/2026).

This MoU reflects the joint commitment of both institutions to deepen collaboration in various key areas of central banking, including monetary policy, financial stability and macroprudential measures, payment systems and digitalisation, financial sector development, capacity-building initiatives, information exchange, and other mutually agreed fields.

BNM Governor Dato’ Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour stated that this MoU reaffirms the long-term partnership between BNM and BI.

“This also represents our joint commitment to deepen cooperation in various existing central banking fields, as well as in new areas of mutual interest,” said Dato’ Abdul.

Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo added that this MoU is an important milestone in strengthening the long-term relationship between BI and BNM, and more than just a symbolic commitment.

“It is evidence of the ongoing spirit to strengthen institutional relations and deepen bilateral cooperation between the two central banks, especially in the current challenging geopolitical landscape,” he explained.

The signing of the MoU paves the way for a stronger and more synergistic partnership between BNM and BI. Both central banks are committed to continuously strengthening sustainable cooperation between the two countries.
