Jakarta — Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo announced changes to foreign currency transaction thresholds effective April 2026 during a press conference following the monthly board of governors meeting on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.

“The foreign currency transaction policy taking effect in April 2026 aims to support rupiah exchange rate stability through adjustment of cash foreign currency purchase thresholds against the rupiah,” Perry stated.

According to Perry, the cash foreign currency purchase threshold against the rupiah will be reduced from USD 100,000 per actor per month to USD 50,000 per actor per month.

Additionally, the sale threshold for DNDF Forward will be increased from USD 5 million per transaction to USD 10 million per transaction.

The authority also adjusted the buy and sell swap thresholds from USD 5 million to USD 10 million per transaction.

The complete policy changes for the foreign currency market transaction rules effective April 2026 to support rupiah exchange rate stability are as follows:

  • Adjustment of cash foreign currency purchase threshold against the rupiah from USD 100,000 per actor per month to USD 50,000 per actor per month;

  • Increase of DNDF/Forward sale threshold from USD 5 million per transaction to USD 10 million per transaction;

  • Increase of buy and sell swap thresholds from USD 5 million to USD 10 million per transaction.
