Bank Customer Injured in Machete Robbery in Cibitung

A bank customer fell victim to a robbery by a group armed with sharp weapons in the Cibitung area of Bekasi Regency, with Rp 30 million in cash he was carrying stolen. The victim was injured in the hand after being slashed by the perpetrators.

“A wound on the left hand,” said Cikarang Barat Police Chief Kompol Dimmas Adhit to reporters on Thursday (6/8/2026).

Separately, Bekasi Metro Police Public Relations Head AKP Aliyani said police had processed the crime scene and collected evidence. Police are still hunting the perpetrators.

“At present, the case is still under investigation to uncover the identities and whereabouts of the perpetrators as well as to establish the full chronology of the incident,” she explained.

The robbery took place on Wednesday (5/8) in broad daylight and went viral on social media. In circulating video footage, the victim initially pulled up on a motorbike at a stall.

Before he could even park his motorbike, the victim was suddenly attacked by two men armed with sharp weapons. The two perpetrators slashed the victim repeatedly until he crashed into a vendor’s cart and nearly toppled over.

The perpetrators then made off with the victim’s bag and fled the scene. Several people at the location appeared shocked. A woman was also seen rescuing a small child who was eating at the location when the robbery occurred.

Kompol Dimmas Adhit said the victim is a private sector employee. At the time, the victim had just left a bank after withdrawing Rp 30 million.

“That is correct, the amount is as stated. We are still conducting further investigation,” said Dimmas.
