PT Bank Syariah Nasional (Bank BSN) is exploring a partnership with JARDY Travel Indonesia to develop banking services within the Umrah pilgrimage ecosystem. This exploration covers payment services, financial planning, and the digitalisation of the pilgrims’ journey, from initial preparation until their return to Indonesia.

SEVP Wealth & Customer Experience at Bank BSN, Sri Soekminiarni, stated that service development must keep pace with evolving public needs. She noted that cross-ecosystem collaborations must also adhere to the principles of prudence and good governance.

“We welcome discussion forums such as this because community needs are constantly evolving. Collaboration between ecosystems can open opportunities to provide services that are increasingly easy, relevant, and add value for both customers and pilgrims, while certainly maintaining the principles of prudence, governance, and applicable regulations,” Sri said in Jakarta on Wednesday (16/09/202lar).

In this exploration, Bank BSN is investigating several developable services, ranging from payment solutions for pilgrims and pre-departure financial planning to community-based services and Sharia financial literacy.

Service development also considers the economic chain connected to Umrah travel. Beyond pilgrims and travel agencies, this chain includes airlines, hotels, transportation, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

From the perspective of JARDY Travel Indonesia, Founder & Visionary Dicky Taufik Gustiawan stated that the connectivity between the travel industry, Sharia financial services, technology, and customer experience can create space for Umrah service development.

“When the strength of the travel industry can be connected with Sharia financial infrastructure, technology, and banking customer experience, there is an opportunity to create a pilgrimage experience that is increasingly easy, safe, and integrated. This is where JARDY’s philosophy, ‘One Journey, Growing Together’, is something we want to implement in reality,” Dicky explained.

Dicky noted that the needs of pilgrims do not only arise when the journey begins. The series of requirements includes the process from the initial intention, fund planning, and departure preparations, through to the performance of the pilgrimage and the return to Indonesia.

Consequently, Bank BSN and JARDY Travel will continue communications to mature the study and implementation plans for the partnership. This development is directed towards addressing the needs of pilgrims while identifying opportunities for interconnected services within the Umrah travel ecosystem.
