PT Bank Syariah Nasional (Bank BSN) is strengthening its collaboration with the Central Board of Muhammadiyah by providing integrated sharia banking services for members of the association and the network of Muhammadiyah Charitable Enterprises (AUM). The cooperation was marked by the signing of an operational agreement for integrated banking support services by Bank BSN Director of Network & Retail Funding Ari Kurniaman and Muhammadiyah Central Board Chair Irwan Akib in Jakarta on Friday. The agreement follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Bank BSN President Director Alex Sofyan Noor and Muhammadiyah General Chair Haedar Nashir in February 2026. Bank BSN President Director Alex Sofyan Noor stated that the five-year partnership aims to optimise the use of sharia banking services to support Muhammadiyah’s operations and thousands of AUM across various sectors. ‘We want to deliver productive financial solutions that can be utilised by Muhammadiyah members, teachers, and employees, while supporting the strengthening of the community’s economy,’ Alex said. Muhammadiyah Central Board Chair Irwan Akib welcomed the collaboration, noting that banking sector support is needed to bolster the operational sustainability of AUM, ranging from universities and schools to hospitals and orphanages. He also expressed hope that the partnership could open access to education financing for students and support housing provision for Muhammadiyah teachers, lecturers, and employees. Through this cooperation, Bank BSN will provide a range of services, including co-branded debit cards integrated with the Muhammadiyah ’Aisyiyah Super Apps (MASA), payroll management, sharia savings accounts, and various consumer financing products such as mortgages, Hajj and Umrah financing, and gold instalment plans. In the housing sector, Bank BSN has recorded disbursing mortgage financing to 980 Muhammadiyah members, comprising 835 subsidised mortgage units and 145 non-subsidised mortgage units. The bank is also building synergies with housing developers to support the residential needs of the Muhammadiyah academic community. Additionally, Bank BSN is providing working capital financing facilities for AUM and digital services through the Bale Syariah platform, which is equipped with sharia financial transaction and service features. The cooperation also includes the provision of virtual account services, expansion of the QRIS merchant network, and sharia financial literacy education programmes. As of May 2026, Bank BSN recorded total assets of Rp78.21 trillion, growing 23 percent year-on-year. Third-party funds reached Rp61.15 trillion, up 14 percent compared to the same period the previous year. Meanwhile, the company’s year-to-date profit reached Rp473 billion, an increase of 40 percent year-on-year. The Bale Syariah mobile banking application, launched in February 2026, has attracted 187,319 active users with a transaction volume of Rp3.51 trillion from more than 1.47 million transactions.
