Bank BSN Partners with REI to Expand Sharia-Based Home Financing
PT Bank Syariah Nasional (BSN) is partnering with the Indonesian Real Estate Companies Association (REI) to expand access to sharia-based home financing for the public. The collaboration was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding in Bandar Lampung on Tuesday (5/5/2026), coinciding with REI’s 54th anniversary.
BSN President Director Alex Sofjan Noor stated that the property sector remains one of the main drivers of national sharia economic growth. Therefore, he said, Bank BSN wants to be involved from the early stages of project development until homes are owned by the public.
“Bank BSN wants to be present not only when homes are ready for sale, but also from the project development process, land financing, until finally the homes are owned by the public,” Alex said in a statement received by Republika on Wednesday (6/5/2026).
According to him, the continuously increasing need for housing must be matched with easier and more affordable financing access. Through the partnership with REI, Bank BSN will promote sharia housing financing with products deemed more transparent and in line with sharia principles.
The scope of the collaboration includes the development of home financing products, education for developers and the public, and support for housing projects connected to the sharia financial system.
Bank BSN assesses that opportunities for home financing remain wide open. As of March 2026, the company’s financing disbursement grew 22 percent to Rp56.5 trillion, with the number of customers reaching more than 1.34 million people.
As part of the BTN Group, Bank BSN targets the disbursement of 73,700 subsidised mortgage units in 2026, or an increase of 34.8 percent compared to last year’s realisation. Meanwhile, for commercial mortgages, Bank BSN offers margins starting from 2.65 percent fixed for three years.
In addition to financing, Bank BSN is also strengthening digital services through the Bale Syariah by BSN platform. As of April 2026, the platform recorded a transaction volume of Rp2.84 trillion from 1.2 million transactions.
REI General Chairman Joko Suranto hopes that the partnership with Bank BSN can strengthen financing support for REI members while expanding public access to decent housing.
“We hope that through this partnership, credit disbursement to REI members can run more professionally and better,” said Joko.
