Bank BSN Launches 'BSN Siap KPR' Programme to Reduce Housing Backlog
PT Bank Syariah Nasional (Bank BSN) has launched the ‘BSN Siap KPR’ programme to expand access to subsidised housing finance, particularly for low-income communities (MBR) in the informal sector. Through this programme, prospective debtors are encouraged to save regularly for three to six months via a digital application to build a transaction record and improve financial literacy before applying for a mortgage.
President Director of Bank BSN, Alex Sofjan Noor, stated that in 2026 the bank has secured a quota of 73,700 subsidised mortgage units, an increase of approximately 34.8 per cent compared to last year’s realisation of 54,700 units. By the end of the year, Bank BSN is targeting the BSN Siap KPR programme to reach 1,000 prospective customers through developer partners.
‘We want to help more families realise their dream of owning a home through a financial education approach and saving habits,’ Alex said during the programme launch in Jakarta on Friday (24/7/2026).
Director General of Urban Housing at the Ministry of Public Housing and Settlements, Sri Hartati, praised the programme, noting it could help tackle the national housing backlog, which currently stands at 9.97 million households. She added that the savings-first scheme also assists banks in maintaining credit quality while opening mortgage access for informal workers.
Meanwhile, BP Tapera Commissioner Heru Pudyo Nugroho stated that the government continues to strengthen support for housing finance. This includes resolving SLIK constraints for small loans and developing a mortgage scheme for urban flats with a tenor of up to 40 years for low-income communities.
