PT Bank Syariah Nasional (Bank BSN) is expanding the distribution of its Sharia services and financing through the Muhammadiyah ecosystem in Lampung. The expansion targets Muhammadiyah Business Undertakings (AUM), universities, hospitals, schools, SMEs, as well as Muhammadiyah entrepreneurs and traders.

Bank BSN President Director Alex Sofjan Noor stated that Lampung holds great potential for the company’s business development due to the growth of AUM across various sectors. “Lampung plays a vital role as the gateway to Sumatra Island, and is a potential region with massive AUM growth, ranging from universities, hospitals, and schools to SME business networks,” said Alex in Bandar Lampung on Wednesday (2/9/2026), according to a press release.

Alex noted that the relationship between Bank BSN and Muhammadiyah is directed towards covering banking needs within the organisation’s ecosystem, beyond mere business transactions. “The relationship between Bank BSN and Muhammadiyah is not just an ordinary business partnership. We want to be present not merely as a provider of banking products, but as an ecosystem partner that grows sustainably alongside Muhammadiyah,” said Alex.

This expansion is being carried out through the Muhammadiyah Ecosystem Acceleration 2026 initiative. This activity is a follow-up to the memorandum of understanding and cooperation agreement previously established between Bank BSN and Muhammadiyah. Bank BSN signed a memorandum of understanding with the Central Leadership (PP) of Muhammadiyah on 24 February 2026 at Muhammadiyah University of Tangerang. This cooperation was subsequently continued through a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) for the Utilisation of Sharia Banking Services in Jakarta on 12 June 2026.

According to Alex, this collaboration has already resulted in the distribution of Sharia Home Ownership Loans (KPR Syariah) targeting up to 1,000 units for Muhammadiyah members and cadres.

In Lampung, Bank BSN is offering several banking services across five segments within the university and AUM ecosystem. For institutions, services include PPO Giro for campus operational fund placement, as well as investment and working capital financing. For lecturers and employees, the services offered include payroll integration, unsecured Multi-benefit Financing, Gold Installment programmes, and Sharia KPR.

For students, Bank BSN provides transaction services through the Bale Syariah application, ZIS (Zakat, Infaq, Sadaqah) integration via Lazismu, and industrial internship programmes through the BKS Young Islamic Banker Academy. For campus businesses and other AUMs, services include digital payments via QRIS and EDC machines, as well as working capital financing for tenants. Bank BSN is also targeting the financing and banking needs of Muhammadiyah hospitals, schools, and Islamic boarding schools.

In terms of performance, as of July 2026, Bank BSN recorded total assets of Rp81.1 trillion, a year-on-year growth of 22.2 per cent. Financing distribution reached Rp62 trillion, growing by 25.7 per cent, while Third-Party Funds (DPK) reached Rp64.1 trillion, an increase of 14.8 per cent. Regarding digital services, the Bale Syariah by BSN platform has over 225,000 active users, with accumulated transactions reaching 2 million with a volume of Rp4.88 trillion as of July 2026.

The event was also attended by the General Treasurer of the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership and also Commissioner of Bank BSN, Prof. Hilman Latief. The series of activities continued with business meetings with Minang Muhammadiyah entrepreneurs to explore potential cooperation in the trade, agribusiness, and regional property sectors.
