An atmosphere of profound emotion filled the courtroom of Military Court II-08 Jakarta as the panel of judges read the verdict for the defendants involved in the alleged kidnapping and murder of a bank branch manager, MIP (37). The victim’s family, including his wife, parents-in-law, and several close relatives, were visibly overcome with grief throughout the proceedings.

From the start of the hearing, the victim’s wife, Puspita Aulia, sat in the front row of the gallery. Maintaining a stoic yet grieving demeanour, she was seen bowing her head in prayer and recitation as the judges began reading the legal considerations and the final decision. Tears flowed frequently as she attempted to remain calm, supported by her parents-in-law who held her hand to provide strength during the difficult trial.

In the final verdict, the panel of judges sentenced the first defendant, Serka Mochamad Nasir, to 13 years in prison after being found legally and convincingly guilty of ‘jointly committing murder’. The second defendant, Kopda Feri Herianto, was sentenced to seven years in prison for ‘jointly depriving a person of their liberty resulting in death’. The third defendant, Serka Frengky Yaru, received a one-year prison sentence for the same charge.

In addition to their prison terms, the first and second defendants were ordered to be dishonourably discharged from military service. Furthermore, the court ordered the first defendant to pay restitution of Rp750 million, while the second defendant was ordered to pay Rp500 million.
