Bank Branch Manager's Wife Rejects Apology from Three TNI Soldiers Who Killed Her Husband: My Heart Hurts for Life
The wife of the late bank branch manager in Jakarta, initialled MIP (37), has rejected an apology from the three accused TNI members in the case of the alleged kidnapping and murder of her husband.
“I beg you not to force me to forgive them at this time because this is painful for me,” said the bank branch manager’s wife, Puspita Aulia, during the additional witness examination hearing in the case of the alleged kidnapping and murder of the Jakarta bank branch manager initialled MIP (37) at the Military Court II-08 in Cakung, East Jakarta, on Monday.
Puspita stated that the actions of the three Kopassus members had caused her deep emotional pain.
“What happened yesterday is something that has made my heart hurt for the rest of my life,” she said.
In front of the panel of judges, Puspita revealed her suffering after her husband’s death. She now has to support her young children and bear the burden of their livelihood and mental well-being alone.
“How is a wife supposed to support her children without a husband? How will her sons and daughters cope with their mental and physical well-being if they remember their father being kidnapped, tortured until death, both at home and especially at school where it becomes the talk among friends and relatives at school,” she explained.
Puspita also conveyed that her children continue to miss MIP as their father who is now gone. In their prayers, there is a hope that MIP can return even if only for a moment, as a form of longing for their closeness with their father.
“Perhaps not directly, but there was a moment when my youngest finished the dawn prayer, he prayed. ‘O Allah, forgive father, O Allah protect father there, O Allah, may father come here even for a short while’, because my late husband was very close to his children,” said Puspita.
The apology request was initially submitted by the legal counsel for the three accused. The legal counsel also prayed that MIP’s soul would be accepted by the Almighty God.
“From our deepest hearts, we apologise as sincerely as possible to the family of the late Mr and Mrs, can Mr and Mrs forgive the accused even though they must be punished as severely as possible because as humans we must forgive each other so that the late one there is at peace and that risk will be borne by the accused for what they have done,” said the Legal Counsel.
