Bank BJB Revives Ramadan Tradition with Haji Geyot Ngabuburit Programme in Bandung
Ramadan is always a special period that brings warmth and a spirit of sharing within the community. In this spirit, bank BJB has once again presented various attractive programmes that offer not only entertainment but also significant educational and community values.
Through the programme titled “Berbagi Berkah Ramadan: Ngabuburit Bersama Haji Geyot” (Sharing Blessings in Ramadan: Ngabuburit with Haji Geyot), bank BJB has introduced a series of entertainment and social activities to enliven the time leading up to iftar. This programme forms part of bank BJB’s commitment to continue supporting activities that provide benefits whilst strengthening its relationship with residents.
The activity specifically targets communities that have maintained strong traditions of enjoying the ngabuburit atmosphere. Through a concept combining entertainment, education, and social awareness, the programme aims to provide a more meaningful Ramadan experience for residents.
The Ngabuburit Bersama Haji Geyot initiative resurrects an iconic figure that was hugely popular in Bandung during the 1990s. The Haji Geyot puppet or statue was previously a symbol of popular entertainment synonymous with the atmosphere of waiting for iftar time in various parts of the city.
The return of Haji Geyot is expected to awaken nostalgia among residents who experienced the festive ngabuburit atmosphere in the past. Simultaneously, younger generations can become acquainted with a popular cultural icon that was once part of Bandung residents’ lives. The programme also represents bank BJB’s effort to help preserve local cultural elements that hold historical significance for the community.
