Bank BJB has partnered with the Job Training Institution (LPK) Asta Karya to expand the distribution of People’s Business Credit for Indonesian Migrant Workers (KUR PMI) to students preparing for internship programmes in Japan. CEO Regional 3 Bank BJB, Asep Wahyu Ismail, stated in Sumedang on Wednesday that the collaboration is designed to broaden access to productive financing while supporting the improvement of Indonesian human resources. “The cooperation with LPK Asta Karya is part of Bank BJB’s sustainable strategy to deliver financial services that provide real benefits to the regional economy and support the national development agenda through strengthening the quality of human resources,” he said. He explained that Bank BJB provides KUR PMI facilities for prospective participants of the internship programme to Japan. The financing is intended to help participants cover the costs of departure preparation, enabling them to complete all stages of the programme without financial constraints. Ismail also noted that synergy between the banking sector and job training institutions forms a crucial foundation for creating a competent, professional Indonesian workforce capable of competing in the international labour market. “Through this collaboration, Bank BJB offers KUR PMI facilities that provide easy, affordable, and well-targeted financing access for prospective participants of the Japan internship programme,” he added. Beyond expanding financing access, the partnership supports the government’s programme to increase the placement of Indonesian workers with international competencies through the Japan internship pathway. The programme is expected to increase the volume of KUR PMI distribution while expanding opportunities for the public to gain work experience of a global standard. Both parties also agreed to establish a structured, transparent, and accountable mechanism for the distribution and coverage of the KUR PMI facility in accordance with applicable regulations. Through this collaboration, Bank BJB hopes the productive financing channelled can improve the welfare of migrant workers and their families, whilst strengthening the banking sector’s contribution to inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
