Bank Bira's profit rises

JAKARTA (JP): Bank Bira, a private bank listed on the Jakarta
Stock Exchange, yesterday reported a 48.59 percent increase in
its net profit in the first nine months to Rp 20.83 billion
(US$9.1 million) from Rp 14.02 billion in the same period of
1994.

The bank said in a financial report that its revenues from
operations in the January-September period increased by 73.49
percent to Rp 30.80 billion.

However, its provision for income tax surged to Rp 10.55
billion in the January-September period from only Rp 3.30 billion
in the sale period of last year.

The report said that the bank's total assets sharply increased
to Rp 1.52 trillion as of the end of September from Rp 927.50
billion as of September 1994. (kod)
