Banjarbaru Evaluates Free Health Screening Programme to Accelerate Target Achievement

The Banjarbaru city government is evaluating the implementation of its Free Health Screening (PKG) programme to accelerate the achievement of health service targets after coverage reached only 54,508 residents, or 19.18 percent of the total population, by mid-July 2026. In 2026, the Banjarbaru city government aims for the PKG programme to cover 131,417 individuals, or approximately 46 percent of the population. Assistant I for Government and People’s Welfare of Banjarbaru City, Rizana Mirza, stated that the evaluation serves as a moment to align the efforts of all stakeholders so that the implementation of PKG becomes more effective and reaches more people. “The free health screening is one of the government’s priority programmes to improve public health status through promotive and preventive efforts,” she said. She noted that the free health screening provides an opportunity for the public to understand their health condition early, so that various risk factors or diseases can be detected sooner and receive appropriate treatment immediately. She emphasised that accelerating the achievement of targets does not solely depend on health service facilities but also requires support from all regional apparatus, health workers, and stakeholders in expanding the reach of information to the community. “Let us strengthen socialisation, bring services closer to the community, and build awareness that maintaining health begins with the willingness to undergo regular check-ups,” Rizana said. In addition to increasing socialisation, she said the government is also encouraging more accessible services so that the public can utilise health screening facilities without being hindered by distance or lack of information. The Banjarbaru city government hopes the evaluation forum will produce concrete recommendations and follow-up plans so that the implementation of free health screenings becomes more effective, capable of pursuing the set targets, while improving the quality of health services for the community. Representing the Regional Secretary of Banjarbaru, Rizana Mirza officially opened the 2026 Coordination and Evaluation Meeting for Free Health Screening as part of efforts to strengthen cross-sector synergy in accelerating the achievement of health service targets.
