Banjarbaru Evaluates Free Health Screening Programme to Accelerate Target Achievement
Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (ANTARA) - The Banjarbaru municipal government in South Kalimantan is evaluating the implementation of the Free Health Check (PKG) programme in order to accelerate the achievement of healthcare service targets, after realisation up to mid-July 2026 had reached only 54,508 residents, or 19.18 percent of the total population.
In 2026, the Banjarbaru municipal government has targeted the PKG programme to reach 131,417 people, or around 46 percent of the population.
Rizana Mirza, Assistant I for Government Affairs and People’s Welfare of Banjarbaru, said in Banjarbaru on Thursday that the evaluation marks a moment to align the steps of all stakeholders so that the implementation of the PKG becomes more effective and reaches more of the community.
“Free health checks are one of the government’s priority programmes for improving the public’s health status through promotive and preventive efforts,” she said.
According to her, free health checks give the public the opportunity to learn about their health condition early, so that various risk factors and diseases can be detected more quickly and promptly receive appropriate treatment.
She stressed that accelerating the achievement of the target depends not only on healthcare facilities, but also requires the support of all regional apparatus, health workers and stakeholders in expanding information outreach to the community.
“Let us strengthen socialisation, bring services closer to the people, and build awareness that maintaining health begins with the willingness to have regular check-ups,” said Rizana.
Beyond improving socialisation, she said, the government is also encouraging more easily accessible services so that people can make use of the free health check facilities without being hindered by distance or lack of information.
The Banjarbaru municipal government hopes the evaluation forum will produce concrete recommendations and follow-up plans so that the implementation of free health checks becomes more effective, capable of catching up with the established target, whilst also improving the quality of healthcare services for the community.
Representing the Regional Secretary of Banjarbaru, Rizana Mirza officially opened the 2026 Banjarbaru Free Health Check Coordination and Evaluation Meeting as part of efforts to strengthen cross-sectoral synergy in accelerating the achievement of healthcare service targets.
