Banjar Police Department Predicts 70-80 Per Cent Surge in Homecoming Travel
Banjar Police Chief AKBP Didi Dewantoro, S.I.K., S.H., M.A.P. stated that an increase in vehicle volume has been observed over the past several days, particularly among vehicles travelling from Bandung towards Central Java.
“Since this morning we have noticed quite significant traffic flow, which is higher than usual, particularly busy during evening and morning hours with many vehicles from Bandung heading towards Central Java,” Didi Dewantoro said at the Banjar Police Integrated Post on Monday.
He explained that Banjar City serves as one of the alternative routes for homebound travellers from Jakarta and Bandung heading to Central Java due to its direct border with Cilacap Regency.
Nevertheless, police continue to anticipate the potential for traffic congestion, particularly after Eid when many homebound travellers are expected to continue their journeys for holiday tourism to the Pangandaran area.
“During the holiday period after Eid, many homebound travellers will visit the Pangandaran area, which is something we need to prepare for,” he said.
According to him, several road sections in Banjar City have potential to become traffic bottlenecks during the homecoming period, including the route to Tanjung Sukur towards Pangandaran and Siliwangi Road leading to the Central Java border.
In addition, local community shopping activity in preparation for Eid may also add to traffic congestion in central Banjar City.
