Three train sets of the Bangunkarta service from Jombang to Pasar Senen derailed at the Bumiayu station in Brebes, Central Java, on Monday (6/4) at 14:15 WIB. As a result, the local line cannot be traversed by trains.

PT KAI Daop 5 Purwokerto has extended apologies to customers, particularly passengers on the Bangunkarta service from Jombang to Pasar Senen. The incident occurred at kilometre 312+1, specifically at points 21A and 21B, causing disruption to train services on that route.

The Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 5 Purwokerto, M. As’ad Habibuddin, stated that the company is currently conducting intensive coordination to ensure travel safety and handle the situation at the site.

“We extend our apologies for the inconvenience experienced by Bangunkarta passengers due to this service disruption,” he said.

He explained that the primary focus at present is the evacuation of the derailed train sets. Meanwhile, the exact cause of the incident is still under investigation and will be announced once the probe is complete.

According to him, upon receiving the report, the emergency response team from KAI Daop 5 Purwokerto was immediately dispatched to the location for swift handling.

“All personnel, along with relevant teams, are at the site to carry out evacuation and address the affected rail line,” he added.

Due to the incident, the rail line at the location is temporarily impassable in both upstream and downstream directions, resulting in disruptions to train services on that route.

KAI Daop 5 Purwokerto is also continuously coordinating with various parties to accelerate the restoration of the line so that train operations can return to normal. The company assures that it will keep the public updated on developments through official channels.

Passengers are advised to remain calm and follow instructions from on-site personnel. As a commitment to service, KAI is striving to handle the matter maximally while prioritising travel safety.

“Further developments will be communicated periodically,” he added.
