Bangli Regent Emphasises Importance of Water Resource Management

Bangli, Bali - Bangli Regent Sang Nyoman Sedana Arta emphasises the importance of water resource management in the region, which also supplies water to other regencies in Bali Province. Regent Sedana Arta, in a press release during a coordination meeting of regional expert staff across Bali held in Bangli on Monday, called for other regencies to provide environmental compensation to Bangli for its role as the upper watershed in Bali. He hopes this compensation will prevent fiscal imbalances across Bali. He also stressed the importance of environmental management as part of disaster mitigation. Bangli’s Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Settlement Area Department Head Dewa Agung Putra Suryadarma explained that key discussion points included strengthening land use regulation, maintaining environmental capacity and carrying capacity. Additionally, formulating strategic policy recommendations for regents and mayors to map and minimise natural disaster risks. The meeting of Bali’s expert staff follows an agreement reached by regents’ and mayors’ expert staff on 11 December 2025 in Denpasar. The effort aims to ensure coordinated, harmonious, and sustainable implementation of inter-regional work programmes in Bali for 2026.
