Bangli District Government Requests Regional Agencies to Ensure Nyepi and Idul Fitri Security and Harmony
Bangli, Bali – The Bangli District Government in Bali has requested all regional apparatus organisations to assist police in maintaining security and harmony during the Hindu holy day of Nyepi and the Islamic Eid al-Fitr, which fall in close proximity.
“All ranks of the Bangli District Government are encouraged to participate in maintaining harmony and smooth operations,” said Bangli Regional Secretary Dewa Bagus Riana Putra in Bangli on Monday.
According to him, the district government is collaborating with police and the military, pecalang (traditional security officials) and other relevant agencies to ensure security and order in the region during major religious celebrations.
To achieve this, the government is coordinating across sectors through an operational coordination meeting led by Bangli Police.
Meanwhile, Bangli Police Chief Senior Commissioner James I.S Rajagukguk emphasised that cross-sector coordination is the key to maintaining tolerance and harmony in the region.
Bangli Police is conducting Operation Ketupat Agung 2026 to secure the celebration of the Hindu New Year Nyepi 1948 Saka and Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah.
“Our priority is to ensure Hindu devotees can carry out the Catur Brata Penyepian (four days of ritual cleansing) with solemnity, whilst guaranteeing security for Idul Fitri travel and Muslim celebrations to proceed safely and harmoniously,” said the Police Chief.
In line with James, Commander of Military District 1626/Bangli Lieutenant Colonel Arm I Gede Arya Girinata Utama pledged to provide personnel and resources to ensure the success of these events.
During the coordination meeting, authorities arranged traffic management at accident-prone and congestion hotspots.
The district government and relevant agencies prepared security and service posts at strategic locations to provide maximum service to the public.
They also arranged monitoring of basic commodity prices ahead of Idul Fitri with relevant agencies, enhanced security at Kintamani tourist destination, which is expected to see increased visitors during the extended holiday period.
Joint personnel were deployed with Pecalang to secure the Tawur Kesanga Ceremony and Ogoh-Ogoh parade one day before Nyepi and on Nyepi itself on 19 March.
