Bangladeshi PM in Philippines

MANILA (AFP): Bangladeshi Premier Sheikh Hasina Wajed arrived here yesterday for a three-day state visit, the Bangladeshi embassy here said.

A formal welcoming ceremony was scheduled for Sheikh Hasina at Malacanang presidential palace later yesterday, after which she was to meet President Fidel Ramos.

The prime minister's visit, which is aimed at reinforcing Dhaka's ties with Manila, will also include a trip to the International Rice Research Institute in the town of Los Banos south of here, the presidential palace said.
