Bangladesh issues tax break
DHAKA (AFP): The Bangladesh cabinet has approved a proposal to
waive taxes on industrial investment, according to a government
statement published in major newspapers here yesterday.
A meeting of the cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina Wajed also decided that tax officials would not question
investors about the source of such investment capital, said the
statement issued late Monday.
Official sources said the decision was aimed at bringing a
large and unspecified amount of black money back into the
mainstream economy.
