Bangladesh bowls
out Sri Lanka
SHARJAH, United Arab Emirates (AFP): Unfancied Bangladesh put
in an impressive display in the field to bowl out Sri Lanka for
233 in the Asia Cup one-day cricket match here yesterday.
The Bangladeshis, fighting to gain test status after its
opening defeat to India on Wednesday, removed Asanka Gurusinghe
with the first ball of the innings.
Medium-pacer Saiful Islam, who had Gurusinghe caught in the
gully, was the pick of the bowlers with four for 36 from 10
overs. Spinner Mohammad Rafique lent admirable support with two
for 50.
This is the first time that Bangladesh, a non-test playing
nation, have dismissed a regular test team in a one-day match.
