Bangkalan Regency Involves Posyandu Cadres in Data Collection for MBG 3B Recipients
Bangkalan (ANTARA) - The Bangkalan Regency Government in East Java is involving posyandu cadres in the area to conduct data collection for prospective beneficiaries of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and non-Preschool toddlers (3B).
Head of the Family Planning, Women’s Empowerment, and Child Protection Office (KBP3A) of Bangkalan Regency, Sudiyo, in Bangkalan on Monday, stated that the involvement of posyandu cadres is intended to ensure that the programme’s recipients are valid and align with on-the-ground facts.
Sudiyo explained that the MBG-3B programme is a priority initiative and serves as a primary support in efforts to reduce stunting cases.
This programme, he continued, is part of the national target to lower stunting rates to 18.8% by 2026 and 14% by 2029.
“Therefore, through this programme, the government aims to strengthen interventions from the pregnancy period onwards and expand the implementation of nutritional fulfilment service units (SPPG) and MBG-3B nationwide to produce a healthy and productive generation,” he said.
Sudiyo explained that the MBG programme launched by the government is one that has also been implemented by several countries.
“According to the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), to date, 77 countries have carried out free school meals, and Indonesia is not just limited to school meals, but falls into the free meals plus category, as it also targets the 3B group,” he said.
