Bangkalan Official Found Dead in Official Car at Juanda Airport, No Official Duty Assigned

The Secretary of the Public Housing and Settlement Department (PRKP) of Bangkalan Regency, RJS (50), was found dead in an official car in the parking area of Juanda Airport. Deputy Regent of Bangkalan Moh Fauzan Ja’far confirmed that the vehicle was an official car. Fauzan stated that the Bangkalan Regency Government is deeply saddened and concerned by the incident. He conducted an investigation to confirm the official vehicle and the body inside by ordering the PRKP Department to go to the crime scene in Sidoarjo to identify the deceased passenger. “Based on records at the Bangkalan Regency Government’s Asset Division, it is true that the car is an operational vehicle specifically for the Secretary of the PRKP Department. And his identity is clear (RJS), although physically he could not be recognised,” Fauzan said, as quoted by detikJatim on Thursday (25/6/2026). Fauzan said the regency government could not yet confirm whether RJS came to Juanda Airport alone or with someone else, as RJS always drove his own car. He also confirmed that RJS had not been to the office since Thursday. “After we checked with the PRKP Department, the person concerned (RJS) had not been in since Thursday, but on Monday (22/6) his staff contacted him via WhatsApp because they needed his signature. However, the WhatsApp message only showed one tick (his phone was inactive),” he said. Fauzan confirmed that there was no official out-of-town travel assigned by the Regency Government or the Head of the PRKP Department to RJS until he was found dead in his official car at Juanda Airport. “On Wednesday (17/6) evening I still met RJS at the farewell and welcome event for the new District Military Commander in Bangkalan,” Fauzan said.
