Bangka Health Office Records 1,121 Children Receiving Measles Immunisation

Immunisation services for measles are centred at integrated service posts in each village, neighbourhood, or urban village, as well as at community health centres. Sungailiat (ANTARA) - The Health Office (Dinkes) of Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, has recorded 1,121 children in the area receiving measles immunisation services or the MR (Measles and Rubella) vaccine. The Head of the Prevention, Disease Control, and Environmental Health Division (P2PL) of the Bangka Regency Health Office, Anggia Murni, in Sungailiat on Thursday, stated that up to February 2026, 1,121 children have received measles immunisation services across all sub-district areas. “Of the 1,121 children who received measles immunisation, 587 children aged nine months received MR 1 or complete basic immunisation (IDL), and 534 children aged 18 months received MR 2 or complete immunisation for children under two years (IBL),” she explained. She stated that measles immunisation is given three times to each child at the ages of nine months, 18 months, and when the child is in the first grade of primary school. Based on Health Office data, seven suspected cases have been found, with one person confirmed positive based on laboratory results, four cases negative, and two awaiting examination results. “Measles immunisation functions to stimulate and enhance the body’s immunity, thereby protecting against the risk of diseases caused by viral infections. Measles immunisation provides many benefits, such as reducing disease incidence, preventing disabilities, avoiding deaths due to infectious diseases, and reducing the risk of outbreaks in future generations,” explained Anggia Murni. She called on all parents with toddlers and children in the first grade of primary school to bring their children to posyandu or community health centres to receive measles immunisation services.
