Jakarta (ANTARA) - The existence of the Bangka Belitung Provincial Language Office building serves as an effort to advance the development of facilities and infrastructure in the fields of language and literature, stated Hafidz Muksin, Head of the Language Development and Cultivation Agency (Badan Bahasa) under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

“We invite local governments, communities, university students, and school pupils to make the best use of (the Bangka Belitung Provincial Language Office building),” he said in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday, regarding the inauguration of the building.

He explained that the building is a public facility that can be utilised by various elements of society to support the ecosystem of education and culture.

He stated that as a form of appreciation for the local cultural richness and figures, the main hall of the building is named “Hamidah,” taken from the famous novelist from Bangka Belitung.

Head of the Bangka Belitung Provincial Language Office, Muhammad Irsan, explained that the construction process of the building began in 2024 and was completed at the end of 2025.

“We hope that this building will become a centre for linguistics, literature, and literacy as a manifestation of our service to the development of education in Bangka Belitung Province,” he said.

The Governor of Bangka Belitung, Hidayat Arsani, expressed appreciation to the Language Agency for the completion of this facility.

“I convey my thanks for (the construction of) this building. This building is for the people, for the community, for our children in the future. Hopefully, we can maintain and care for this building well,” he said.

He emphasised that the existence of the Language Office building reflects the dignity and honour of Bangka Belitung Province.

“This building is the dignity of Bangka Belitung Province. I am confident that this building will be beneficial for the community in teaching,” he stated.
