Bangka Belitung Labour Department Instructs 350 Companies to Pay Holiday Allowance Early
Pangkalpinang — The Bangka Belitung Provincial Labour Department has written to 350 medium and large-scale companies to ensure payment of Eid al-Fitr holiday allowance (THR) for the Islamic year 1447 Hijri is made in advance to support workers’ household economies ahead of the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
“We are appealing to business operators to pay THR in advance, or 14 days before Eid al-Fitr,” said Agus Afandi, Head of Industrial Relations at the Bangka Belitung Provincial Labour Department, in Pangkalpinang on Sunday.
“We have written to 350 medium and large-scale companies to follow up on the appeal from the Ministry of Manpower to pay employee THR in advance, or 14 days before this year’s Eid al-Fitr,” he said.
He stated that to ensure THR payment, the Bangka Belitung Provincial Labour Department will conduct monitoring starting 14 days before Eid al-Fitr across all companies.
“If this THR is paid in accordance with regulations, it will certainly have a positive impact on the companies concerned, as it will boost worker morale and encourage increased company production,” he said.
He added that to ensure THR payment complies with applicable regulations, the Bangka Belitung Provincial Labour Department has also opened complaint centres both online and offline.
“The offline complaint centre operates during working hours, whilst the online centre is open 24 hours to make it easier for workers to report THR-related issues,” he said.
