Bang Japar Reaffirms Commitment to Safeguarding Jakarta
The chairwoman of Bang Japar, who is also a member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) for the Jakarta electoral district, Fahira Idris, has affirmed that safeguarding Jakarta is an important part of Bang Japar’s identity, history and line of service.
This commitment is realised not only through efforts to maintain security and public order, but also by providing assistance, empowerment and concrete solutions for the community.
“Bang Japar is reaffirming its commitment to Jaga Jakarta (Safeguard Jakarta). For us, safeguarding Jakarta means protecting its people, its unity, its environment and its public facilities, as well as ensuring that residents feel safe, supported and not alone when facing problems,” Fahira said during a press conference for Bang Japar Jaga Jakarta at the Bang Japar Central Command Headquarters in Jakarta on Friday (21/8/2026).
She added that Jakarta is a shared home that must be cared for with concern, fraternity and peaceful means. The Jaga Jakarta commitment is one of the concrete manifestations of Bang Japar’s struggle line of “Berbuat dan Bermanfaat” (Doing Good and Being Useful).
Safeguarding a city cannot be understood merely as an effort to secure a territory. Safeguarding Jakarta also means helping residents obtain justice, opening access to health services, strengthening family economies, protecting the environment, preserving culture, and nurturing the social and religious life of the community.
As part of strengthening the Jaga Jakarta commitment, Bang Japar will collaborate with various elements of society united in the Jakarta Community Alliance to take part in the Jaga Jakarta Readiness Rally on Thursday, 27 August 2026.
For this Jakarta senator, Bang Japar’s involvement in the Jaga Jakarta Readiness Rally is a continuation of the organisation’s long-standing work in protecting the community, the environment, public facilities, unity and the peace of the city. The activity is not intended to confront any party or group.
“The Jaga Jakarta Readiness Rally is not a movement to build tension and not a mobilisation to oppose anyone,” she stressed.
According to her, it is a collective effort to remind everyone that Jakarta is home to us all. This home must be safeguarded through mutual cooperation, dialogue, order and a spirit of fraternity.
Fahira also urged the public not to be easily provoked by information from unclear sources, video clips taken out of context, or calls on social media that could incite anger, hatred, vandalism and conflict between communities.
“We may hold different views, but we must not lose our sense of brotherhood. Let us keep the democratic space healthy, peaceful, orderly and civilised,” said the women’s activist.
The Bang Japar Jaga Jakarta commitment, Fahira Idris asserted, does not stop at a single rally or a single moment. This commitment is Bang Japar’s long-term service to ensure that the organisation’s presence is increasingly felt and beneficial to the community.
“Bang Japar will continue to safeguard Jakarta by doing good and being useful. We will protect the city, help its residents, nurture its fraternity and strengthen its community. Bang Japar must not be great only in name, but must grow ever greater in benefit,” Fahira concluded.
