Bang Japar Affirms Commitment to Safeguarding Jakarta Through Empowerment and Collaboration

Fahira Idris, chairwoman of Kebangkitan Jawara dan Pengacara (Bang Japar), has affirmed that safeguarding Jakarta is an important part of the organisation’s identity, history, and line of service. The effort is not only realised through maintaining security and order, but also by providing assistance, empowerment, and concrete solutions for the community.

‘Bang Japar is reinforcing its commitment to Jaga Jakarta. For us, safeguarding Jakarta means safeguarding its people, their unity, the environment, public facilities, and ensuring residents feel safe, helped, and not alone when facing problems,’ Fahira said on Saturday (22/8/2026).

‘Jakarta is our shared home, so we must care for it with concern, brotherhood, and peaceful means,’ she continued.

According to Fahira, the Jaga Jakarta effort is a tangible manifestation of Bang Japar’s struggle line of ‘Berbuat dan Bermanfaat’ (Doing and Being Useful).

Safeguarding a city cannot be understood merely as an effort to secure a territory. Safeguarding Jakarta also means helping residents obtain justice, opening access to health services, strengthening family economies, protecting the environment, preserving culture, and nurturing the social and religious life of the community.

As part of strengthening the Jaga Jakarta effort, Bang Japar will collaborate with various elements of society united in the Aliansi Masyarakat Jakarta to participate in the Apel Siaga Jaga Jakarta on Thursday, 27 August 2026.

For Fahira, Bang Japar’s involvement in the Apel Siaga Jaga Jakarta is a continuation of the organisation’s long-standing work in safeguarding the community, environment, public facilities, unity, and peace of the city. The activity is not intended to confront any party or group.

‘The Apel Siaga Jaga Jakarta is not a movement to build tension and not a mobilisation to fight anyone. This is a collective effort to remind everyone that Jakarta is our shared home,’ explained the Jakarta senator.

‘This home must be safeguarded through mutual cooperation, dialogue, order, and a spirit of brotherhood,’ she continued.

Fahira also urged the public not to be easily provoked by information from unclear sources, out-of-context video clips, or calls on social media that could trigger anger, hatred, destruction, and conflict between communities.

‘We may have different views, but we must not lose our brotherhood. Let us keep the democratic space healthy, peaceful, orderly, and civilised,’ said the women’s activist.

Fahira stressed that Bang Japar’s Jaga Jakarta effort does not stop at one rally or one moment. The effort is part of Bang Japar’s long-term service to ensure the organisation’s presence is increasingly felt by the community.

‘Bang Japar will continue to safeguard Jakarta by doing and being useful. We safeguard the city, we help its residents, we nurture brotherhood, and we strengthen the community,’ Fahira said.

‘Bang Japar must not only be great in name, but must become even greater in benefit,’ she concluded.
