Bandung Zoo Management Tender Sees Low Interest, Here Are the Steps to Be Taken
Bandung City Government has revealed that the tender for managing Bandung Zoo remains sparsely attended. For this reason, they will explore several options, from extending the registration period to having the government take over management.
“I and the governor are in intensive communication; the governor said that if the tender does not succeed by 5 May, it will be taken over by the government,” said Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan on Thursday (30/4/2026).
He stated that his side, together with West Java province, will prepare several scenarios, whether there is a winner of the tender or not. Farhan said that registration is still ongoing for those wishing to participate in the Bandung Zoo tender process.
Farhan said that not all conservation institutions can meet the heavy and strict requirements. Out of a total of 85 companies invited to participate in the tender, only four have expressed interest.
“Yes, 85, but only around four have responded, and they have only expressed interest,” he said.
His side is also requesting an extension of time from the central government. Amid this process, Farhan said that the Food Security and Agriculture Service, the West Java Forestry Service, and Vantara are focusing on the welfare and health of the animals.
