Bandung Woman Held Captive and Tortured by Boyfriend for Three Years, Eyes Damaged and Lip Severed

A woman with the initials YTT (29) from Antapani, Bandung, West Java, has become the victim of captivity and abuse by her boyfriend over a period of three years. The perpetrator, identified by the initials TH, held the victim captive in the Cileunyi area of Bandung Regency. The case was reported by the family to the West Java Regional Police on Friday (12/6/2026). The victim, who had been reported missing, was found in a horrific condition with a destroyed face and injuries all over her body as a result of the abuse.

Head of Public Relations for the West Java Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, stated that the family had previously been unaware of the victim’s whereabouts. The victim was considered to have disappeared by her family for approximately three years. “Previously, the victim disappeared without any news, and her whereabouts were unknown for approximately three years,” he said.

Hendra stated that the victim was allegedly abused by the perpetrator. TH carried out his actions in various ways, ranging from using blunt objects to sharp weapons. “It is suspected that during that time period, she received abusive treatment from the reported person using hands, blunt objects, sharp weapons, and the victim’s valuables went missing,” he explained.

Hendra added that besides suffering severe injuries, a number of the victim’s valuables were also reported missing. The perpetrator is suspected of violating Article 466 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code related to aggravated assault. “As a result of the incident, the victim suffered severe injuries, including being unable to see normally, a cleft lip, difficulty speaking, inability to walk, and material losses of approximately Rp 52,000,000,” he said.

Elsewhere, sadness was evident on the face of YTT’s younger brother, Syahrul Ulum (26), when met at his residence in the Permata Hijau Complex, Jelegong Village, Rancaekek District, Bandung Regency, on Tuesday (16/6/2026). This is because the victim’s condition is currently very concerning at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung. The younger brother recounted how his older sister first met the suspected perpetrator back in 2023. According to him, his older sister met the suspected perpetrator at a music concert event. “The beginning of the story was that they wanted to start a relationship, at Tritan Point, after a concert. It was around 2023,” said Syahrul.

After that, the two entered into a relationship and the suspected perpetrator once visited their parents’ home in Rancaekek. After that visit, Syahrul said, his sister immediately became unreachable by the family. “Yes, right from that moment, we lost contact with my sister. Even though before dating, she usually came home here once a week, because my sister worked at Nabati Pasteur and rented a room in that area,” he said. According to him, during the disappearance, his sister occasionally sent news via WhatsApp messages. In those messages, the victim said that she was in Jakarta. “So for three years we didn’t get any news. Once we got news, she said she was in Jakarta,” he explained.

Syahrul mentioned that the family had posted a search for his sister on social media and it had gone viral. However, suddenly someone contacted the family and asked them to delete the post. “Yes, after she had been missing for more than a year, we, the family, made the search for my sister viral on social media. But suddenly someone threatened us and asked for the post to be deleted. We suspect it was the perpetrator,” he said.

After waiting for news for several years, the family received information about YTT’s whereabouts on Wednesday, 10 June 2026. Syahrul said the family received information via a phone call that his sister was at RSHS Bandung, reportedly as an accident victim. “We got info from a phone call that our sister was at RSHS, said to be an accident victim. Hearing that, we were shocked, then we rushed there. It turned out that the ones who brought her were the perpetrator and the boarding house keeper in Cileunyi. But when I arrived there, my sister was already in the emergency room alone,” he revealed.

Syahrul said the family felt as if struck by lightning seeing YTT’s condition in the emergency room. According to him, his sister’s face was already destroyed. “So both eyes, the right eye was already infected, the left one had shrunk and could no longer see. Then this part of the mouth (upper lip) was gone. Then this side of the leg had what was said to be machete wound marks,” he stated. After that, the medical team immediately performed surgery on the head area. This was because there were many pus-filled lumps on the head due to impacts from blunt objects. “On this side of the head, like a woman wearing a headband, there was a lot of pus here. It’s been cleaned, so now the face is somewhat cleaner, it’s been cleaned. So the damaged parts of the face are now visible,” said Syahrul.

After YTT regained consciousness and could be spoken to, it was finally revealed that the injuries were caused by the actions of her boyfriend, TH. The abuse and captivity occurred during the victim’s disappearance over the past three years. “So the story came through my father. He said my sister had been slashed with a machete. Her head was often hit with a helmet, her face too, so sharp weapons and bare hands were used, the leg had machete wound marks. Then on her skin there were cigarette burn marks but they were already dry. On her head there were also incision marks,” said Syahrul. Syahrul revealed that the family decided to make the case viral again on social media. Subsequently, the victim reported the incident to the West Java Regional Police.
