Bandung Wedding Organiser Defrauds 140 Couples, Absconding with Rp 2.4 Billion
A tragic situation has befallen 140 individuals who fell victim to fraud by a wedding organiser (WO) in Bandung. The group of victims was defrauded by a woman identified by the initials SCR, representing Darmawangsa Wedding Organiser SCR, who absconded with funds totalling Rp 2.4 billion.
Sunsun Nugraha Sidik, one of the victims, is scheduled to marry on 21 June 2026. However, his wedding is now at risk of cancellation because the wedding organiser has failed to settle any payments with the appointed vendors. “Fraud has occurred regarding the execution of their weddings because there have been no payments from the WO to the promised vendors,” he stated when confirmed on Sunday, 7 June 2026.
Sunsun was enticed to use the services of the organiser due to their relatively low prices. He has already transferred a total of Rp 70 million to the company, but the organiser has since become impossible to contact. “The initial tactic was to lure clients with packages that were quite cheap and very tempting for prospective brides and grooms,” he explained. He added that the victims, including other couples and vendors, remain open to mediation.
Sunsun noted that the victims visited the West Java Regional Police (Polda Jabar) on Saturday, 6 June 2026, to report the case, though some documentation is still being finalised. The group plans to return to the police headquarters on Monday, 8 June 2026, to complete the report.
Another victim, Bisri, stated that the wedding organiser has been extremely difficult to reach for discussions regarding wedding plans. He claimed that since January 2026, he has only been able to hold one meeting with the organiser. Bisri, who is due to marry on 14 November 2026, remains hopeful that his wedding can still proceed and is seeking clarity on the situation. He noted that many comments on social media have already surfaced, confirming that the individual in question has absconded with money from numerous prospective couples.
