Bandung – The Bandung Regency Transportation Department (Dishub) in West Java has increased the quota for its free Eid exodus programme for 2026 by one hundred people to accommodate the enthusiasm of thousands of residents during the first registration phase.

Head of the Bandung Regency Transportation Department Hilman Kadar stated in Bandung on Friday that the total number of participants will now reach 700 people, up from the initial quota of only 600 passengers.

“There will be additional quota resulting from the latest collaboration with Bank Jabar Banten. There will be two additional buses or one hundred more spaces,” he said.

He explained that the additional seats are scheduled to be ready at the beginning of next month, and his department has coordinated technically to ensure the readiness of the fleet and participant administration.

Despite the quota increase, the Transportation Department will not immediately open new registrations as it prioritises residents already on the waiting list.

“There is no new registration because previously there were applicants who did not receive quota, so they will be prioritised first,” he added.

The number of applicants in the initial phase reportedly exceeded available capacity, so a re-registration process will be conducted to ensure participants are truly ready to depart.

The department also explained that during the verification stage, prospective travellers often cancel their trips, so empty seats will then be allocated to other applicants deemed more prepared and meeting the requirements.

Meanwhile, the free exodus programme is scheduled to depart on 17 March 2026, three days before Eid al-Fitr, with the main route heading towards Central Java via the Bandung-Cilacap-Yogyakarta-Klaten-Solo corridor, including stops along the route.

Hilman emphasised that this programme is a strategic step to reduce traffic accident rates during the exodus period and hopes residents will no longer use motorcycles for travel during the 2026 exodus.
