Bandung to host art song recital

BANDUNG: The Art Song Recital 2001 will be held every Friday in March and April in the Ramayana Room of the Grand Hotel Preanger on Jl. Asia Afrika.

The event also will make a stop at Jakarta's Erasmus Huis on March 28.

In the first concert in Bandung, baritone Joseph Kristianto and pianist Iswargia R. Sudarno will perform Beethoven's An die ferne Geliebte and Schumann's Love Songs.

"We are planning to organize the concert annually," Iswargia said.

Scheduled for the second concert are performances of Bartholdy's Songs of Suleika, Ravel's Scheherezade and Six Greek Songs, plus several pieces from Johannes Brahms and Manuel de Falla.

The third recital will see the performance of Goethe Songs, which once was performed by soprano Binu D. Sukarman.
