Bandung to be swamped by flowers

BANDUNG: A group of people will try to renew the tradition of Bandung, the capital of West Java province, as a flower city, a spokesman has said.

Thousands of flowers will be planted here on Feb. 14, or Valentine's day and the event is being coordinated by FeMale Radio station officials, Bandung mayor and activists of a Non- Governmental Organization (NGO), the Jendela Budaya Lingkungan, the radio CEO, Hanny Soemadipradja, said here on Friday.

Radio listeners who take part in a radio quiz will receive a flower which should be planted here, she said.

"A million flowers" is the theme of the program during which FeMale radio station will also choose three houses with the best flower gardens in town.

The winners will be announced on Feb. 14. -- Antara
