Bandung Religious Court Grants Ridwan Kamil's Petition to Adopt Arkana
The Bandung Religious Court (PA) has officially ruled via e-court that Arkana Aidan Misbach is the child of former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil. The ruling was recorded in the court’s Case Tracking Information System (SIPP) on Wednesday, 15 July. “Declares valid the child adoption carried out by Mochamad Ridwan Kamil bin the late Atje Misbach Muhjidin, of a baby boy named Arkana Aidan Misbach, born in Bandung on 28 February 2020,” the SIPP website stated. The panel of judges also ordered the petitioner to report a copy of the court ruling to the local Population and Civil Registration Office so that Arkana can be recorded in the birth certificate register and new civil documents can be issued. The adoption case was registered at the Bandung Religious Court on Friday, 26 June, with the ruling handed down on Wednesday, 15 July. Ridwan Kamil’s legal counsel, Wenda Aluwi, confirmed in a brief message that the ruling had been conveyed to his client. A week prior, the former Bandung mayor attended the court accompanied by his lawyer, dressed in a blue suit and white shirt, and appeared calm as he left the building. “God willing, Arkana is officially my son,” he said at the time. Meanwhile, Ridwan Kamil’s former wife, Atalia Praratya, also expressed happiness with the court’s decision to grant the adoption petition. Through her legal counsel, Debi Agusfriansa, Atalia congratulated Ridwan Kamil on the court’s ruling regarding Arkana’s custody. “We pray for the best for Arkana and Mr Ridwan Kamil. According to Islamic law, a boy’s mahram when he grows up is his father. So, the mechanism that has been pursued is appropriate and proper,” she stated. Atalia also confirmed that her relationship with Arkana remains good. “Alhamdulillah, the relationship with Arkana is still well maintained,” she explained.
