GARUT — The West Java Provincial Government continues to implement strategic measures to ensure smooth traffic flow during the Eid holiday travel period. One initiative involves regulating arterial routes to restrict operations of traditional transport services such as delams, becaks, and angkots, which frequently cause traffic congestion.

In response, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has ensured the provincial government has allocated compensation for traditional transport drivers affected by operational restrictions during the holiday exodus.

“Areas like Padalarang (West Bandung) that were previously not included are now added, as well as congestion points such as Garut. In total across West Java, approximately 5,000 recipients will receive this compensation,” said Dedi Mulyadi, known as KDM, at Garut Regional Police Headquarters on Saturday (14 March 2026).

Each delman driver, becak operator, and registered angkot driver receives 1.4 million rupiah. This figure represents the accumulation of daily compensation of 200,000 rupiah throughout the operational restriction period on key holiday routes.

KDM explained that, unlike previous years which focused on one week before and after Eid, this year’s scheme has been adjusted to match population movement patterns.

“The funds have all been distributed. Some will be disbursed before Eid, and the rest will be distributed after Eid when the tourism sector is bustling,” KDM stated.

The West Java Provincial Government has also enforced strict regulations. Compensation is provided on the condition that traditional transport drivers comply and refrain from operating on designated main holiday routes.

KDM stressed that his office will summon and conduct evaluations for those proven to have violated route regulations during the compensation period.

“If there are still those who misbehave and operate on prohibited routes, we will summon and evaluate them next year,” he affirmed.
