Bandung Regent Visits Alleged Captivity Victim, Pledges Government Support
Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna visited Yunita (29), a resident of Rancaekek District, Bandung Regency, who is suspected of being a victim of confinement and abuse for approximately three years. The victim, who had previously been reported missing and was difficult for her family to contact, was found with severe injuries and is currently receiving intensive care at Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital (RSHS) Bandung.
During his visit to RSHS on Monday (22/6/2026), Supriatna ensured that the victim receives optimal healthcare and support from the Bandung Regency Government until her recovery process is complete. The case drew public attention after the victim’s family reported the alleged confinement and abuse Yunita endured for about three years. The victim was found with a number of serious injuries and is still undergoing medical treatment at RSHS Bandung. The West Java Regional Police are also conducting an investigation and pursuing the suspected perpetrator.
On behalf of the Bandung Regency Government, Supriatna expressed deep concern and sorrow over the incident. “On behalf of the Bandung Regency Government, I express my concern and sorrow. This is a very concerning incident and serves as a warning for all of us to increase social awareness and sensitivity in our respective environments,” said Supriatna. He noted that the case is an important reminder for the community to look after one another, supervise, and care about the conditions of their surroundings to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
Supriatna revealed that he had coordinated with the hospital regarding the victim’s care and recovery process. He confirmed the victim will continue to receive treatment until her health condition truly improves. “Earlier, I discussed with the hospital. The victim will continue to be served and treated until she recovers. The Bandung Regency Government will help manage various necessary needs, including administration and financing,” he said. Supriatna appreciated RSHS’s commitment to providing the best care for the victim. Based on direct observation, the victim’s condition is currently showing positive progress. “When I visited, the victim was resting and accompanied by her mother. Overall, her condition has started to improve. Hopefully, her recovery process will proceed smoothly so she can soon return home and be with her family,” said Supriatna.
On the occasion, Supriatna urged law enforcement officers to thoroughly investigate the case and take action against the perpetrator in accordance with applicable legal provisions. “I hope the police can resolve this case soon and arrest the perpetrator. Such an incident is horrific and must not happen again,” he stressed. Supriatna also called on the residents of Bandung Regency and West Java to increase their vigilance, especially in supervising family members and children. “I urge the entire community not to be complacent. Let us increase our vigilance and social sensitivity towards our surroundings. Do not let similar incidents escape our collective attention,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Director of Human Resources and Education at Dr. Hasan Sadikin General Hospital Bandung, Dr. Fitra Hergyana, stated that the hospital has formed a medical team to handle the victim comprehensively. “God willing, we have prepared a medical team to provide the best care. The patient’s condition is now much better, and we will continue to make every effort to help restore her health,” said Dr. Fitra. He added that the treatment process will continue according to the patient’s medical needs until she is declared stable enough to proceed with the next stage of recovery.
