Bandung Regent to Sanction Cicalengka Health Worker Over Insensitive Comments to BPJS Patient

Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna has affirmed that strict sanctions will be imposed on a health worker (nakes) in Cicalengka who made unsympathetic comments about a BPJS patient. The behaviour was deemed inconsistent with the core duties of health workers as public servants.

Dadang stated that he has instructed the Bandung Regency Civil Service and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM) to process the sanction immediately. The move came after the health worker’s behaviour went viral and sparked public concern.

“I have therefore instructed BKPSDM that sanctions must be imposed,” Dadang said in Bandung on Monday (10/8).

Based on the results of a check, the health worker in question is known to hold the status of a Government Employee with a Work Agreement (PPPK). This employment status allows for firm action, including termination of employment, in accordance with the applicable mechanism.

“After checking, it turns out the person is still a PPPK. If it is a PPPK, then it is possible to terminate directly, if for example sanctions are to be imposed directly,” he stressed.

In addition to imposing sanctions, Regent Dadang has asked the Health Office and all hospital directors in Bandung Regency to strengthen coaching and guidance. This is intended to prevent similar incidents from recurring and to maintain the quality of public services.

According to him, mental, character and moral development is very important to improve the capacity of health workers in providing excellent service. He emphasised that any civil servant (ASN) or PPPK proven to have violated regulations will be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the law.

“We will provide mental education, we will provide education on more excellent service. So these are our efforts to maintain the quality of service to the public,” he concluded.
