Bandung Regent Issues Circular Encouraging the Use of Local MSME Products
The Regent of Bandung, Dadang Supriatna, has encouraged civil servants to use products or services from Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to boost the local economy, especially for lower-income residents.
The Regent of Bandung has issued a circular regarding the Use and Purchase of IKM/UMKM (Small and Medium Industries/Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) Products and/or Services and Traditional Markets in Bandung Regency.
Dadang explained that the circular, number 500./006/0375/DISPERDAGIN, is addressed to heads of regional units, regional-owned enterprises (BUMD), and regional general hospitals (RSUD).
Through this circular, he encourages civil servants to use MSME products and shop at traditional markets. Given the current difficulties faced by MSMEs and traditional markets in marketing their products and the lack of purchases, he issued the circular to address these issues.
“This is to optimize the use of MSME products and help traders in traditional markets,” said Dadang in Bandung, Thursday (February 26).
In the current economic situation, support from all government employees in the Bandung Regency government is needed.
“In connection with the above, all OPDs (regional organizational units) are encouraged to prioritize local IKM/UMKM products/services in every activity,” he said.
He said that in various activities, local MSME products should be prioritized, using local MSME goods/services as long as they meet the price, quality, and availability requirements.
This also includes prioritizing small-scale procurement (giving priority to MSMEs in accordance with regulations) in consumption/meeting activities, souvenirs/memorabilia for meeting and training equipment, business trips, and others.
“Make it a habit to shop at traditional markets to meet daily needs,” he said.
He also urged all regional units to mobilize all employees to implement this circular responsibly.
The Head of the Trade and Industry Office (Disperdagin) of Bandung Regency, Dicky Anugrah, added that socializing this to all civil servants and OPDs will help increase the use of MSME products, in addition to encouraging shopping at traditional markets.
“This circular proves that the government is present and the Regent of Bandung cares about helping to market and use MSME products in Bandung Regency. This also encourages civil servants to shop at traditional markets in the midst of market conditions and declining IKM turnover,” he said.
