Bandung Regency Government Backs School Revitalisation and Digital Learning
The Bandung Regency Government is backing the school revitalisation and digital learning programmes initiated by President Prabowo Subianto. Regent Dadang Supriatna (KDS) announced the support at an open house for revitalised schools, recipients of the Learning Digitalisation Programme (PID), and Integrated National Schools (SNT), held as part of the publication of 2026 priority programmes at SMPN 2 Cicalengka on Friday (16 October 2026).
KDS said school revitalisation was a strategic step towards improving educational facilities. Bandung Regency has around 1,600 schools, nearly 95 per cent of which, he said, need revitalisation.
“Honestly, the regional budget is not enough to cover it at present,” he said.
Amid local budget constraints, 192 public and private schools in Bandung Regency have received revitalisation assistance from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, totalling around Rp137 billion. At SMPN 2 Cicalengka, the work includes repairs to seven classrooms, construction of two new classrooms, and the provision of seven toilet doors.
“I hope this will be more beneficial,” he said.
Alongside improving school facilities, KDS emphasised the importance of meeting students’ nutritional needs through the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. Adequate nutrition, he said, was one factor in preparing an excellent generation for Indonesia Gold 2045.
“Indonesia Gold 2045 cannot be built with words alone. How can we be intelligent without nutritious food?” he said.
On digital learning, KDS urged students and teachers to develop strong digital literacy. The use of technology in teaching and learning, he said, must be matched by the ability to screen and verify information and to rely on valid sources.
“We must not misinterpret it. We still have to rely on credible sources,” he said.
KDS also encouraged the Sapa Bedas programme to strengthen ties between students, teachers and headteachers. He said closer relationships could foster a sense of family and help prevent bullying in schools.
“When people know one another well, a sense of affection and family grows. Bullying will no longer happen,” he said.
He also reminded schools to look after and maintain their revitalised facilities. Suitable, comfortable educational facilities need to be supported by ongoing maintenance so they can effectively support teaching and learning, he said.
“With a comfortable place and comfortable facilities, enthusiasm for learning will grow. But maintenance is important,” he said.
SMPN 2 Cicalengka student representative Neisa Nur Azqiya, 15, thanked the President, the relevant ministries and the Bandung Regent for the school’s revitalisation, which has made learning more comfortable.
“Now we can all learn more comfortably and enthusiastically with interactive digital learning. Previously, I felt uncomfortable because some of the buildings could be dangerous. After the revitalisation, I am very happy and more motivated to study,” Neisa said.
She hoped the improved facilities and digital learning support would help students at SMPN 2 Cicalengka achieve their ambitions and become a generation to be proud of. The Bandung Regency Government said it would continue to support better education by providing suitable learning facilities and using technology in teaching, in line with its vision of a more BEDAS, advanced and sustainable Bandung Regency on the path to Indonesia Gold 2045.
