Bandung Regency Cited as Successful in Implementing MBG, Here is the Secret
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Bandung Regency has become one of the regions deemed successful in implementing the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Programme. The Regent of Bandung Regency, Dadang Supriatna, stated that his area is running cross-sector collaboration, forming an MBG Task Force, and a monitoring dashboard.
“So if there is anything that needs to be communicated, there is a special task force in the field, and there is a dashboard. Some have already been running (the MBG dashboard), some have not, so the beneficiaries will be updated on the dashboard,” said Dadang at the CNBC Indonesia Food Summit 2026 with the theme “Indonesia Food Safety Urgency: Towards a New Policy Framework” at Menara Bank Mega on Monday (27/4/2026).
He mentioned that Bandung Regency is one of the largest areas in West Java, with 1.25 million beneficiaries. Currently, there are 480 kitchens being prepared and 413 kitchens already operational. The distribution of MBG is adjusted to the conditions and distribution in each sub-district.
“There is a joint office in Bandung Regency and it is the first in Indonesia. This is for discussions when there are problems in the field,” he revealed.
Dadang emphasised that the regional government is preparing mechanisms to ensure the quality of food supplied by SPPG remains maintained. The Bandung Regency Government, together with the Health Department, is preparing tests for all SPPG so they can have hygiene and sanitation certification.
“So Bandung Regency is ahead, all are certified to minimise poisoning, with cross-sector coordination being very important to succeed in MBG,” he said.
Dadang stated that the rules and systems in MBG are already clear, with the community as beneficiaries. With the requirement that SPPG must have nutritionists, it cannot be compared to restaurants.
“In this SPPG, a clear system has been established, a clear application, reinforced by the dashboard, there are also rules, for rent, operations, to food,” said Dadang.
